Educational Leadership

Overview

Our Educational Leadership Programs are designed for working practitioners who hold or seek leadership positions in a wide variety of educational settings including urban public school systems, higher education institutions, nonprofit organizations focused on policy making, and early childhood educational programs. Through our programs, students develop and articulate their own vision of leadership in order to address the most pressing questions facing educators today. The course work builds on the diverse backgrounds, beliefs, and experiences students bring to the program, illustrating how these strengths can contribute to and shape the future of educational policy, advocacy, and practice.

Students work closely with their advisors to customize their program of study; courses are offered on weekday evenings to accommodate professional work schedules. The Early Childhood Leadership and Independent School Leadership Programs allow current or aspiring leaders to develop and articulate their visions for leading so that they may achieve their potential as leaders within early childhood or independent school settings. The Joint MBA/MA Program, offered in partnership with the Lorry I. Lokey Graduate School of Business at Mills College, prepares students to assume leadership roles in both the instructional and managerial aspects of educational organizations.
