Broadsides are individual printed sheets showcasing literary text that has been laid out in an original design, often with additional graphic
elements.
The Contemporary Writers Series broadsides are an ongoing project that provides students in the MFA
in Book Art and Creative Writing Program the extraordinary opportunity to design and produce broadsides of
texts by the renowned writers who participate in the Contemporary
Writers Series at Mills College. The broadsides are designed and produced at the Eucalyptus
Press on the Mills campus. The book art studios give students access to an impressive array of letterpress equipment, including a wide range of
metal and wood type and etching and relief presses.
Broadsides are available for purchase on the evening of the author's Contemporary
Writers Series reading. All broadsides are numbered and signed by the writers. Proceeds support the production of future Contemporary Writers
Series broadsides.
