A leader in the field of early childhood education, Mills College is continuing this tradition of innovation through a master's degree in infant mental health. This emerging field centers on early childhood relationships and is founded on the principle that early relationship-based intervention can help children at risk and their families prevent future developmental problems.
The Mills Infant Mental Health Program prepares graduate students to become practitioners or researchers working with children from birth through age five. Students are prepared to work in a range of settings such as pediatric clinics, child care, classrooms, social service agencies, regional centers, and children's homes.
Infant mental health research at Mills College is conducted in the Early Childhood and Family Research Laboratory.
