What is Public Policy
The field of public policy is focused on understanding and solving public problems. Whether you're interested in protecting the environment, fighting poverty, or ensuring access to healthcare, a master's degree in public policy will prepare you with the analytical tools you need to develop and implement effective solutions.

The master's degree in public policy (MPP) at Mills College is the perfect path of advanced study for students who want to make a lasting impact. Our MPP curriculum focuses on assessing public problems, developing creative solutions, and implementing policies that are efficient, equitable, and feasible. Graduates enjoy a wide range of careers, from policy analysts to advocates to managers.

Located in the dynamic and diverse San Francisco Bay Area, Mills offers MPP students small, collaborative classes led by distinguished faculty with real-world experience. The MPP Program places a unique emphasis on the local community, bringing area policy leaders into interactive classroom discussions. MPP students graduate with the analytical skills and political acumen needed to navigate effectively in public, private, and nonprofit organizations.

In some cases, students can use prior course work to meet certain first-year requirements, potentially reducing the time needed to complete the degree. Additionally, part-time options are available.
