The Mills Master of Public Policy (MPP) Program is designed to increase the number of women in the traditionally male-dominated field of public policy. Our goal is to produce graduates with strong analytical skills who are also prepared to take into account the complex social, economic, and cultural factors that affect policy outcomes. As a result of this training, graduates of the program can expect to have multiple career options as managers or analysts in public, private, and nonprofit organizations.
In evaluating applications, we seriously consider students' diverse work, life, and educational backgrounds and experiences. We are especially interested in candidates who bring the following kinds of qualities:
- Commitment to public service with a focus on public policy
- Work or volunteer experience
- Ability to work collaboratively with others
- Creativity in problem solving
- Ability to work with diverse groups in diverse environments
- Quantitative reasoning and analytic skills
In preparing your application, you should keep this list in mind and make sure that the application materials convey the most relevant aspects of your experience and ability.
You can apply online or via the mail. Please review our requirements and deadlines page for more detailed information or our application page for forms. There may be special admission requirements that you should be aware of before applying to ensure your application packet is complete.
