| About D6 |
The District 6 Neighborhood Revitalization-Main Street Project is a collaborative effort to revitalize two commercial corridors in Central East Oakland. The project was initiated and led by Council member Desley Brooks, with the assistance of the City of Oakland, The Oakland Citizens Committee for Urban renewal (OCCUR), Mills College, and the California Main Street Alliance. Strategies, plans and interventions are to be developed to stimulate the community economic development potential of MacArthur Boulevard from 73rd to 84th Avenue, and the Mills-Seminary-Foothill corridor. The physical appearance, image and infrastructure of both target areas are also intended for improvement as elements of the project. The project will involve residents, businesses, community groups and other stakeholders in a process of envisioning a new economic, physical and social future of each of the target ares and developing a plan and projects that implement that vision. |
