There are parts of our life that are overlooked, worn away, become lost or seemingly less important as we are pulled apart by the day to day. I was interested in exploring and documenting this area and finding connections and threads between other people and myself.
In Threads, I asked the audience for an article of clothing that needed mending (e.g. a sweater that was missing its buttons). The artwork began with an invitation, continued as I interacted with the audience/participants, shopped for matching buttons, fabric and thread, and scanned, mended and returned the clothing. The photographs on display are the results of my investigation and are small abstracted portraits of the participant.
