Megan Burns:   Mentored Youth

Statistics show that mentored youth have better attendance, a better chance of going on to higher education and have better attitudes toward schools, and that taking part in mentoring promotes positive social attitudes and relationships. In a world where more and more children are becoming apathetic toward school it's a good idea to start a mentoring program so more children have a little extra support to work towards their goals. Renee Reeshard-Smith did just that, she started a mentoring group. But hers is special. Hers is targeted toward young African-American and Latina women. Megan Burns reports.
