Sarah Gonzales: Young Women and Prostitution
In recent years, it has become more common to see girls as young as 12 lingering on Oakland's toughest streets to solicit sex during late hours of the night. It used to be that when you drove down East 14th St. past 20th youčd seen women in their 40s in stilettos and mini-skirts. Now due to recent police crackdowns, prostitutes have left the 20čs. But if you go right around the corner youčll see a similar scene—only now the women are younger. Sarah Gonzales went to find out why young women are turning to prostitution. |
