TRiO
METS Program

The Mills Educational Talent Search Program (METS) operates differently from Upward Bound. Academic Advisers will often meet students at target schools (Skyline, Castlemont–CBITS, Fremont–Media Academy, ARISE, Life Academy).

What Does METS Offer?
• One-on-one academic advising
• College planning
• Workshops
• College campus fieldtrips
• Educational/career/cultural fieldtrips
• Access to computer lab
• Quarterly newsletters
• Referrals to other community services
• Services for students who plan to re-enter high school or college

Who is Eligible?
Students must meet the following eligibility requirements:
• Be 11–27 years old and reside and/or attend school in the Oakland area
• Be first generation college-bound (neither parent graduated from a four-year college)
• Meet federal poverty guidelines (low-income)
