Google Web Accelerator - intermittent errors when trying to retrieve full-text content
Comcast users and AOL users
09/2006 Mac user OS X operating systems - Problem viewing full text from results list.
Still need assistance? Email Library Systems Administrator.
If you are using the Google Web Accelerator you may have difficulty accessing the full-text content in databases. This is due to the conflict between the GWA and EZproxy. To resolve this problem, uninstall the GWA, or disable it when you need to search our databases.
AOL users- DO NOT USE THE AOL INTERFACE TO ACCESS YOUR RESERVE READING. Connect to the internet with AOL, and then use IE to access your reading.
Problems have been reported by Comcast Cable users. When Comcast installs their software they may make some changes to your machine's setting that will not allow access to the electronic resources.
You may want to try using either Mozilla or instead of IE.
If you want to continue to use IE, please check to see if you have proxy address in you IE settings. To do this:
Select: Tools
Select: Internet Options
Select: Connections
Select: Settings if you are on a modem or LAN settings if you are on a network elsewhere or use a cable modem
Check the box next to: "Use a proxy server for this connection" for an address such as http://proxy.isp.com -- if such an address is there you are accessing the Internet through a proxy server
click on Cancel
click on Cancel on the Internet Options menu
If you are accessing the Internet through a proxy server, check with your Internet Service Provider to see if they can help you change these settings.
Users of Mac OS X have reported problems accessing the full text from the results list with both Safari and IE. This behavior is inconsistent and will sometimes take the user to the top of the results page again. If at all possible, use a PC to access EBSCO databases.
