International Exchange Program 

Mills College offers exchange opportunites at the following universities in South Korea and China:

Ewha Women’s University, Seoul, South Korea
Lingnan University, Hong Kong, China

An exchange program differs from a study abroad program in that it is a direct exchange of students from one institution to the other. This means that students from Mills College go to either Ewha or Lingnan as individuals and guests and enroll directly in the institution rather than having the more limited access to the institution that would be available through a study abroad program provider.

The application process for International Exchange is the same as that for the Study Abroad Program, except that the student must first apply through Mills and be accepted to the exchange program.

Ewha Women’s University

Application process

Submitted to Mills College:

  • Mills College International Study Application
  • 1–2 page Statement of Purpose
  • International Exchange Supplemental Application
  • Two letters of reference.
Submitted to Ehwa University on Acceptance by Mills:
  • One page application and a statement of purpose
  • Proof of sufficient funds from bank
  • 1 letter of recommendation
  • 3 passport photos
  • Official transcript

International Education Institute (IEI) (Year Program) Fees

Students participating in academic year or semester exchange pay regular Mills tuition, room and board, and incidental fees to Mills while attending the exchange institution.

Lingnan University

Lingnan University, founded in 1967, the only liberal arts university in Hong Kong, traces its heritage to its predecessor in China, first established in 1888. The University is small, warm, friendly, and welcoming. It has a relatively small number of students amongst the universities in Hong Kong and is committed to maintaining the student number at about 2,000 to ensure a close faculty and student relationship. Seventy-five percent of its students live on campus. The campus is located in Tuen Mun in the New Territories. This beautiful campus, winner of architectural awards, is an embodiment of eastern and western architectural styles, providing facilities crucial to the daily functioning of a modern university. Lingnan University seeks to provide its students with quality education distinguished by the best liberal arts tradition from both East and West. It adopts a whole-person approach to education which enables its students to think, judge, care and, ultimately, act responsibly in the changing circumstances of Hong Kong, the region, and the world.

  • Students are welcome to take any courses from across the curriculum.
  • Prior knowledge of Chinese is not required.
  • Introductory language classes (Mandarin Chinese) are available.

Fees

  • Mills regular tuition and fees
  • Housing fees
  • Students are responsible for the cost of meals, airfare, transportation, medical insurance, and all incidental expenses.
