Literary and Cultural Studies Major  |  Literary and Cultural Studies Minor

Literary and Cultural Studies Major
(12 semester course credits)

Required:

LET 110 Introduction to Literary Criticism (1)

LET 111 Theorizing Cultural Studies in the Americas (1)

Language requirement:

Completion of two years of study (college level 4 or equivalent) in French or Spanish by the time of graduation.

Senior requirement:

LET 191 Senior Thesis (1)

And, in consultation with the major advisor, 7 upper-division credits chosen from Letters, French, or Spanish courses.

In addition, select two electives from among courses in related disciplines. (2)

Completion of two years of study in a second language offered at Mills or through cross-registration may be substituted for 2 upper-division credits.

Literary and Cultural Studies Minor
(6 semester course credits, which may include two language courses at the second-year level)

Required:

LET 110 Introduction to Literary Criticism (1) or

LET 111 Theorizing Cultural Studies in the Americas (1)

Language requirement:

Completion of two years of study (college level 4 or equivalent) in French or Spanish by the time of graduation.

And two courses in second-year language study (French III–IV or Spanish III–IV) or two upper-division courses offered in French or Spanish for students who have already achieved second-year language proficiency.

And 3 upper-division course credits from Letters, French, or Spanish courses.
