The Social Sciences Division sponsors an annual "Social Sciences Student Research Conference." This professional academic conference is held at Mills College in Oakland, California. The conference consists of a number of interdisciplinary panels in which seniors from anthropology, economics, government, history, philiosophy, and sociology present their senior thesis/essay/project research.
In addition to their fellow graduating social science majors, the intended audience includes:
- faculty--to view the work done by graduating students in other departments
- rising juniors--so they can see and understand the process of the senior thesis
- underclass women--to understand the larger process of completing a major
- the community--to see what Mills is offering its undergraduates
