Mills College Public Radio About the Faculty Holly Kernan is a long-time public radio reporter and producer. She is currently news director at KALW-FM in San Francisco. Her features can be heard regularly on National Public Radio. She got her start at KQED and worked for Spanish public television (Canal Sur), producing historical documentaries for broadcast. A producer/reporter at KQED for nearly a decade, Kernan produced the "Voice of the Voter" civic journalism series and created the audio documentary program "Hot Soup". She taught journalism and radio production at Youth Radio; hosted live public affairs programs for WorldLink TV; and is the managing editor for New America Media/KALW radio's "Up Front: dispatches from the new majorities," which produces stories from the ballooning ethnic media. Kernan has won many awards, including the National Federation of Community Broadcasters, Society of Professional Journalists and American Women in Radio and Television. She has taught at UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism, Santa Rosa Junior College, Youth Radio and SFSU s Lifelong Learning Institute. Contact: hkernan@mills.edu |
