Undergraduate Writing Contests

Women's Studies Writing Contest
Submit an essay or nonfiction paper pertaining to issues of Women and Gender. Open to all undergraduate Mills students. Winning paper will be kept on reserve in the Library.

Prize: $100 and a gift certificate for a book.

Queer Studies Writing Contest
Submit an essay or nonfiction paper pertaining to Queer Studies. This contest is designed to recognize, support and honor the exciting student work being done in the field of queer studies at Mills. Open to all undergraduate Mills students. The winning paper will be kept on reserve in the Library.

Prize: $100 and a gift certificate for a book.

Bring all entries to Vera Long 118 or email to wgss@mills.edu
Enter as many submissions as you would like but please do not submit the same essay to both contests.
Include a cover sheet with:

  • the title of your paper
  • the contest you are entering
  • your full name
  • your phone number
  • your email address
  • your academic level

Important: Do not write your name on any other page in your submission. Prizes will be presented at the Awards Convocation.

DEADLINE for both contests: March 20, 2015

Please note: Entries will not be returned.
