Commencement: Disability-Related Needs of Degree Candidates and Guests 

Deadline: Saturday, April 30, no later than 4:00 pm.

Degree candidates or guests who have disability-related needs requiring assistance for Commencement, should contact Melanie Paulina in the College Events Office via email at mpaulina@mills.edu.  Please include your name, contact information, type of disability, and number of guests who require special arrangements. Special arrangements are not confirmed until she has responded to your request. Disability accommodations cannot be guaranteed after this deadline.

All degree candidates and their guests must provide their own wheelchairs, if needed.

Any attendee displaying the official state disability placard will be directed to a specially designated parking lot.

For those without wheelchairs but with mobility concerns, a golf cart will be transporting people from the specially designated parking lot to Toyon Meadow and another from the car/van drop off in front of the Olin Library to Toyon Meadow (Commencement site). Vans and golf carts will also be transporting people from various parking areas to the drop off area in front of the library. Advise guests to allow extra time if they wish to use the golf cart option.

Tip: If guests need to sit in the shade, advise them to proceed to the seating area nearest Mills Hall by the trees. This area is not considered special seating but is shaded for most of the ceremony. We also strongly recommend that guests wear hats for protection from the sun or rain.
