Commencement: Parking and Lost and Found

Parking

Two gates will be open on Commencement day, the Main Gate (see the sun image near #1 on campus map) on MacArthur Boulevard and the Wetmore Gate (near #49 on campus map) on Seminary Avenue. Please allow extra time for parking before the Commencement ceremony. Even with both gates open, extra traffic officers, and our Public Safety staff directing traffic on campus, there still is about a 30 - 45 minute back-up.

Once on campus, a Public Safety Officer will direct attendees to a parking lot. A shuttle service will run between the parking lots and the drop-off area by Olin Library, which is very close to Holmgren Meadow, where the ceremony is held. In addition, golf carts and/or wheel chairs will run from the drop-off area to Holmgren Meadow.

Degree candidates participating in the ceremony should proceed directly to the Oval in front of Mills Hall. Note: The Oval is closed to traffic.

Vehicles displaying the official state/Mills disability placard will be directed to a specially designated parking lot. Golf carts will run between this lot and the Commencement site on Holmgren Meadow.

Vehicles not displaying the official placard but delivering guests with a mobility issue, should check in with the Main Gate kiosk officer. After discharging passengers at the designated drop-off area, proceed to the general parking area.

After the Commencement ceremony has concluded, both of the above gates as well as an exit only gate off of the front parking lot near the Main Gate will be open.

Lost and Found

During the ceremony, lost and found items will be held at the information table, located at the base of Rothwell Center steps, adjacent to the Commencement site on Holmgren Meadow. After the ceremony, please contact Pulic Safety at 510.430.5555 or email safety@mills.edu.
