Commencement: Student Speakers
One speaker from the Senior Class and one speaker representing graduate students will be selected to speak at Commencement. Speeches must be no longer than three minutes. The speech given at Commencement must be the same as the one submitted for auditions.
Selection of the Senior Class Speaker
Speakers are selected by vote open to all seniors eligible to graduate by May 2014.
Seniors interested in giving the undergraduate speech at Commencement should send the text of their speech, which should be no longer than three minutes, to firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday, April 4, 5:00 pm. The finalists will be contacted to give their speech during The Junior/Senior Celebration. All seniors in attendance for the speeches will be able to vote to select the undergraduate speaker.
Selection of the Graduate Speaker
Each year a student is selected to give a speech during the ceremony and all graduate students are encouraged to consider giving this talk. We are looking for a student who has something original and special to say to the graduating class.
Students are encouraged to nominate one of their fellow graduates, or self-nominate, and submit a speech to email@example.com. The deadline is TBA. The speech must be typed, double-spaced, in Word format, and include name, student ID, degree program, and telephone number. The speech should be no more than three minutes in length.
