| Description |
Mills College is a nationally respected independent liberal arts college for women with graduate programs for both women and men. Located on 135 lush acres in the foothills of Oakland, California, the College enrolls approximately 900 undergraduate women and 500 graduate women and men. Consistently ranked one of the top colleges in the West by U.S. News & World Report and one of the "Best 366 Colleges" by The Princeton Review, Mills provides a dynamic liberal arts education fostering women's leadership, social responsibility, and creativity.
The Mills College Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation (APER) department offers seven NCAA and NAIA women's varsity sports including soccer, volleyball, cross-country, swimming, tennis, rowing and track and field. The cross-country program competes in the California Pacific Conference. APER also offers about 30 Physical Education courses each semester, and a wide variety of recreational and fitness opportunities.
The College is recruiting for an Assistant Cross-Country Coach
Representative Duties
The Assistant Cross-Country Coach's primary responsibilities include the following:
- Assist the Head Cross-Country Coach with the overall development of the intercollegiate cross-country program
- Assist with coaching, recruiting, communicating with the team, and hosting races
- Drive a 15-passenger vehicle to practices and competitions
- Perform related duties as needed.

| Requirements |

Bachelor's degree or equivalent
-
Experience running on a collegiate team and ability and willingness to run with the team

Basic knowledge of the sport and coaching/teaching experience preferred.

Ability to obtain a Class-B California Driver's License with Passenger Endorsement preferably by August 20, 2008, and to successfully complete the medical examination.

Availability to work flexible hours, including late afternoons and weekends

Commitment to NCAA Division III philosophy

Ability to exhibit strong customer service orientation for all levels of College constituencies and members of the public

Ability to take appropriate steps to promote and sustain effective working relationships within a diverse multicultural environment

Ability to work safely in compliance with College Injury and Illness Prevention Plan.

| Salary |
$2,740, approximately 12 to 20 hours per week from August 14 through November 22, plus state-mandated benefits including Social Security, State Disability Insurance, Workers' Compensation Insurance, and Unemployment Insurance.
