Description

The College is recruiting for a Data Analyst for the Office of Institutional Advancement.

Representative Duties

Mills College is seeking a skilled Data Analyst to work closely with and support the College's fundraising operation. The Data Analyst is responsible for managing the constituent records data in the Office of Institutional Advancement to ensure the timely and accurate maintenance of alumnae and donor information in the SungardHE Banner Advancement System. Additionally, the Data Analyst must facilitate the retrieval of records and generation of reports while promoting a high level of quality assurance. Depending upon the skill-set of the Data Analyst, there will be training opportunities to expand his/her knowledge base. The Data Analyst reports to the Director of the Mills College Annual Fund with close interaction with the Director of Systems and Services. Moreover, this position serves as the liaison to the central IT office.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Evaluating and recording information in the database
  • Writing and executing queries and generating reports
  • Analyzing reports, procedures, database forms and structures to determine best practices in order to serve current needs of the College
  • Writing specifications for programming changes, testing new programs, organizing and monitoring department-wide testing of new releases
  • Documenting and disseminating procedures and standards
  • Ensuring data integrity by formulating quality assurance program and organizing data clean-up projects
  • Performing related duties as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least two years experience entering and retrieving data from a complex data management system
  • Knowledge of:
    • relational database concepts, Banner preferred
    • data retrieval principles
    • Structured Query Language
    • best practices of data maintenance
    • research methods
    • Excel and other desktop applications
  • Ability to:
    • communicate clearly with both non-technical staff and technical staff
    • enter data accurately and quickly, abiding by College standards and meeting deadlines
    • be flexible as institutional priorities change
    • write computer logic rules and program specifications
    • analyze systems and manage data-related projects
    • supervise student workers who are engaged in data entry
    • establish and maintain effective and productive working relationships within a diverse and multicultural environment
    • establish and maintain an effective customer service orientation towards all persons during the course of job performance
    • comply with the College's Injury and Illness Prevention Program.
Salary

Competitive salary commensurate with experience, plus an excellent benefits package including medical/dental/vision/life/LTD insurance/403b retirement plan, 22 days vacation plus 13 paid holidays and 12 sick days annually. Staff also receives free admission to campus events, use of the pool, fitness center, and tennis courts. Tuition remission is also available after an introductory period.
