Reunion Giving Officer - Mills College Annual Fund

Reports To Director of the Mills College Annual Fund
Description Mills College is a nationally respected independent liberal arts college for women with graduate programs for both women and men. Located on 135 lush acres in the foothills of Oakland, California, the College enrolls approximately 900 undergraduate women and 500 graduate women and men. Consistently ranked one of the top colleges in the West by U.S. News & World Report and one of the "Best 366 Colleges" by The Princeton Review, Mills provides a dynamic liberal arts education fostering women's leadership, social responsibility, and creativity.

The College is recruiting for a Reunion Giving Officer.

Representative Duties

The Reunion Giving Officer's primary focus is to manage all reunion giving campaigns; developing solicitation strategies, and utilizing volunteers. This is a newly created position that calls for a creative mind and someone eager to dive into new projects.

Primary responsibilities include the following:

  • Develop fundraising goals and strategies to realize both leadership gifts and extensive class participation for reunion campaigns including alumnae celebrating 50th, 25th, and 10th year reunions.
  • Recruit, train, motivate, and supervise volunteer committees for 50th reunion campaigns.
  • Identify and prioritize leadership giving prospects. Personally solicit leadership gifts from prospects for whom suitable volunteer matches are not possible or when staff solicitation is appropriate.
  • Conceptualize reunion direct mail solicitations, and oversee their development, working with Production Coordinator to ensure production timelines are met and quality standards are achieved.
  • Perform related duties as needed.
Requirements

Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Two or more years of fundraising experience
  • Experience in volunteer management
  • Computer and word processing experience required

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Superior organizational and planning skills
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to:
    • travel and meet with prospects and volunteers
    • work frequent evening and weekend hours
  • Ability to:
    • manage multiple projects independently and meet deadlines
    • prioritize activities in accordance with departmental goals
    • exhibit strong customer service orientation for all levels of College constituencies and members of the public
    • take appropriate steps to promote and sustain effective working relationships within a diverse multicultural environment
    • work safely in compliance with College Injury and Illness Prevention Plan
Salary

Competitive salary commensurate with experience, plus an excellent benefits package including medical/dental/vision/life/LTD insurance/403b retirement plan, 22 days vacation plus 13 paid holidays and 12 sick days annually. Staff also receives free admission to campus events, use of the pool, fitness center, and tennis courts. Tuition remission is also available after an introductory period.
