Check-In for New Undergraduate Students

Before Orientation | At Orientation

Before Orientation 

The first step of Check-In requires that students clear their student accounts either by paying their tuition in full (minus financial aid) by Wednesday, January 2, 2008, or by setting up a payment plan with Tuition Management Systems (TMS) and making the first payment by January 2, 2008.

Students who have cleared their accounts may complete Step 1 of Check-In online beginning Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at 9:00 am:

  • Go to http://portal.mills.edu/
  • Login using your Mills student ID, social security number, or Mills login name
  • Enter your network password*
  • Click on “Web Check-In” under the heading "Student & Applicant Resources in myMILLS"
  • Follow the prompts to complete Web Check-In
  • Select “Spring 2008” from the drop down menu
  • Review your information on the "Display Check-In Status" page and make any necessary changes by following the instructions under "How to Change" 
  • Print the "Web Check-In Step 2" page (you will need this page at Orientation)

*If you cannot recall your password or need to create one, click the “Forgot Password” link.

OR

  • Check-in in person at the M Center when you arrive on campus on Tuesday, January 22.

To expedite the Check-In process upon your arrival and reduce your waiting time, please complete the following:

  1. Email a color digital photo of your head and neck, with a clear view of your face, and without a hat, sunglasses or anything that hides your features. The image should be in a JPEG format. Name your file with your Mills ID number (e.g., B00xxxxxx.jpg) and email it to housing@mills.edu.

If you don’t have a digital photo you may also mail in a passport photo. Send to:

  1. Complete the Parking Permit Request Form in myMILLS before arriving on campus. To access this form, login to http://portal.mills.edu/, click on “myMILLS” and then click on "Apply for a Parking Permit at Mills.”

At Orientation

To begin the Orientation process and receive all your materials, check in at Mills Hall (see campus map) according to the following schedule:

New and Readmitted Undergraduate Students

 Residential Students

 8:30 am - 9:30 am

 Commuter Students

 9:30 am - 10:30 am

Check-In for New Graduate Students

Check-In Step 1

 Commuter Students  9:30 am - 10:30 am

Students who check-in online do not need to visit the M Center and may proceed directly to Sage Hall Room 138.

Check-In Step 2

The second step of Check-In requires students to take their printed Web Check-In Confirmation Page if they checked in online, or their Check-In card if they checked in at the M Center, to Housing Management and Dining Services (HMDS) in Sage Hall Room 138. Refer to the Check-In Step 2 Schedule below for dates and times.

Step 2 enables students to receive their Mills ID Card, get a parking permit (if needed) and obtain any residential keys. (All students using cars on campus must have a parking permit that is valid for spring 2008. Note: Parking permits issued in fall 2007 remain valid for the full academic year.)

All students are required to complete Step 1 and Step 2 of Check-In each semester.

Students who have cleared their accounts may complete Step 1 of Check-In online (except new international students) beginning Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at 9:00 am:

  • Go to http://portal.mills.edu/
  • Login using your Mills student ID, social security number, or Mills login name
  • Enter your network password*
  • Click on “Web Check-In” under the heading "Student & Applicant Resources in myMILLS"
  • Follow the prompts to complete Web Check-In
  • Select “Spring 2008” from the drop down menu
  • Review your information on the "Display Check-In Status" page and make any necessary changes by following the instructions under "How to Change" 
  • Print the "Web Check-In Step 2" page (you will need to submit this page to Housing Management and Dining Services (HMDS) according to the Check-In Step 2 Schedule below).

Students who check in online do not need to visit the M Center and may proceed directly to HMDS.

A $250 Late Check-In Fee will be charged to all students who have not completed Step 1 of Check-In by Tuesday, January 22, 2008, 6:00 pm. Students who do not complete Step 1 will be "Withdrawn Without Notice" from the College.

Check-In Step 2

The second step of Check-In requires students to take their printed Web Check-In Step 2 Confirmation Page if they checked in online, or their Check-In card if they checked in at the M Center, to Housing Management and Dining Services (HMDS) in Sage Hall Room 138. Refer to the Check-In Step 2 Schedule below for dates and times.

Step 2 enables students to receive or update their Mills ID Card (students who have lost their ID card must get a replacement and will be charged a $10 fee), get a parking permit (if needed) and obtain any residential keys. (All students using cars on campus must have a parking permit that is valid for spring 2008. Note: parking permits issued in fall 2007 remain valid for the full academic year).

Continuing and Returning Residential Students
Tuesday, January 22

 Last Name A – G  10:30 am – noon
 Last Name H – P  1:00 pm – 2:30 pm
 Last Name Q – Z  2:30 pm – 4:30 pm

Continuing and Returning residential students can move in beginning Tuesday, January 22, 2008, 10:30 am.

Continuing residential students who require an early move-in must meet the following requirements:

  • Must be a current residential student who had a fall 2007 housing assignment
  • Account must be cleared by Thursday, January 3, 2008, 4:00 pm
  • Must notify HMDS by Thursday, January 3, 2008, 4:00 pm
  • Must pay $50/night prior to arrival

Please note that the earliest move-in date is Friday, January 18, 2008.
 

Continuing and Returning Commuter Students
Wednesday, January 23
to
Tuesday, January 29
8:30 am - 5:00 pm

All students must submit the printed Web Check-In Confirmation Page or Check-In card to HMDS in Sage Hall Room 138 by Tuesday, January 29, 2008, 5:00 pm.
