Campus Photography/Videography

Mills College reserves the right to photograph/videotape students for the purpose of institutional promotion. Whenever possible, Mills observes the common practice among colleges of obtaining individual permissions for the use of campus photographs/videos in which students are prominently featured. However, permissions are not obtained for the use of student images in photographs/videos of public events on campus, such as rehearsals, performances, lectures, readings, athletic events, student life events, alumnae/i events, and College ceremonies. Academic departments, such as but not limited to: art, dance, English, and music also reserve the right to photograph/videotape students and their work for institutional use. Location Photography or Videography

Mills College is a private campus, and we do not currently rent or offer the campus or our facilities for personal, nonprofit, or commercial photography or videography. If you are renting campus facilities for an event, your contract will indicate any exceptions to this rule. Please contact conference@mills.edu for details.

Members of the News Media

If you are a member of the news media and wish to photograph or videotape campus as part of an interview that features Mills College, please contact media@mills.edu to coordinate your visit prior to arriving on campus.

Faculty/Staff

If you wish to bring external photographers/videographers to campus, you must receive pre-authorization at least 30 days in advance of the request. You can contact media@mills.edu for a screening questionnaire that will be reviewed by the Marketing Department, the College's Chief of Staff, and/or legal counsel if appropriate. If approved, liability insurance will be required and external organizations must be accompanied by a staff member at all times.

Logo Usage

No one is authorized to use the Mills logo or academic seal in photography or videography without approval from the Mills College Marketing Department. Contact marketing@mills.edu for questions.
