College 005

COLL 005 is a non-credit course that all entering undergraduate students must complete by the end of their second semester. All students required to complete College 005 will need to register for the class the same way that they register for all classes. Once registered, College 005 will be available to them through Blackboard. Students not finishing College 005 in the first semester will receive an Incomplete. Students not finishing College 005 by the end of their second semester will receive an NP, which will permanently show on their record. Students not finishing College 005 by the end of their second semester will also have a hold placed on their record which will prevent them from adding and dropping classes.

Access to COLL 005 for the academic year will be available in Blackboard on June 1.

There are two parts to COLL 005:

Mills Information Literacy Evaluation or MILE
(Modules 1–6)

  1. MILE consists of one course with six modules and corresponding tests.
  2. Microsoft Office Training
(Word, Excel and PowerPoint for PC or Mac)
Each of the three Microsoft Office training courses includes a test.

If you are a PC user, take the PC Microsoft Office training. The training and corresponding tests should be taken on a PC.

If you are a Mac user, take the Mac Microsoft Office training. The training and the corresponding tests should be taken on a Mac.

You must pass all 9 tests (6 for MILE, 3 for Microsoft Office—one each for Word, Excel and PowerPoint) with a score of 70% or higher on each test to fulfill your COLL 005 requirement. Tests may be taken multiple times with your highest score being retained.
