Application Deadlines

The priority deadline for receipt of all application materials is February 1 for fall admission. The priority deadline for spring admission is November 1.

Applications are reviewed when all supporting materials are received, and official notification of an admission decision is sent in writing from the Office of Graduate Admission. Most programs review applications on a rolling admission basis after the priority deadline.

Required Materials:

All applicants to the graduate degree and certificate programs at Mills College are required to submit the following:

Graduate Application for Admission: Complete all sections of the application as indicated, including a required 3- to 5-page essay. The essay should be typed and double spaced.

Application Fee of $50: Payable to Mills College by check, drawn on a U.S. bank. CASH/CREDIT CARDS NOT ACCEPTED.

Two Official Transcripts: Two copies of official transcripts sent directly from each post secondary institution attended to the Office of Graduate Admission.

    Please Note:
Admission to graduate or post-baccalaureate study at Mills College is contingent upon the possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. If you are still completing your degree at the time of application, send official transcripts showing work completed and in progress.

Immediately upon completion of the baccalaureate degree requirements, it is your responsibility to send a final transcript with the degree posted to our office.

Three Letters of Recommendation: Reference forms are provided in the application packet. Note: Current Mills College students and alumnae require only one letter of recommendation.

Special Admission Requirements: International students should be aware of the Special Information for International Students.

If you have any questions about admission requirements, deadlines, or applying to Mills, contact the Office of Graduate Admission at 510.430.3309 or grad-studies@mills.edu.
