New Graduate Student Checklist

Before Orientation
Complete these items before you arrive at Mills for New Graduate Student Orientation on Monday, August 24 by following this monthly timeline.

July 2009
July 15—Complete all financial aid requirements
indicated on Financial Aid Award Letter.
• If accepting student loans, complete all requirements indicated in MyMills

Complete Mills Self-Guided Computer Orientation
• Mills Portal-Gateway to campus resources
• Set Up Mills Username & Password
• Check Email
• MyFiles Personal File Storage
• Student Lab Locations & Rules

August 2009

August 1—ID Photo due: email to housing@mills.edu
Photo Requirements:
• Photo of student's face and neck (no hats or sunglasses)
• .jpg format only
• Save with your Banner number as the file name (B00XXXXXX.jpg)
• Sending this early allows you to skip the line for ID pictures and ensures you like your photo

August 1—Official transcript due to the Office of Undergraduate Admission
• Submit Final College Transcript with date of graduation

August 3—Fall payment deadline
• Email from M Center–Student Accounts contains details about payment options
• Pay in full online
• Make your first installment payment online or call 1.888.572.8985

Optional: Submit the "Authorization for Disclosure Form"
• Authorize a third party (parents, spouse/partner, etc.) to have access to your financial information
Form is included in your student accounts billing information packet and online

Optional: Enter a billing address via the Portal
• Designate a specific address and/or individual to whom you would like all billing information to be mailed

August 12–24— Confirm your semester attendance via the Portal beginning August 12
• The link above contains step-by-step instructions and more detailed information regarding this requirement
• You are encouraged to confirm your semester attendance before Orientation
• The deadline to confirm your semester attendance without a late fee is Monday, August 24

Review Course Schedule online
• Determine possible courses that interest you

Begin Packing/Preparing
• Bring your state issued Photo ID or passport
• Bring your original Social Security Card if you anticipate working on campus
• Get 2–3 months of prescription medication if you plan to live on campus

Register your vehicle/parking permit via the Portal
• Bring your car registration (or a copy if someone else owns the car) with you to Orientation

August 31—Last day to enroll or waive medical coverage

August 24—Orientation!

Wednesday, August 26
• Instruction begins

September

• Consult with advisor regarding your courses and ask for any assistance that you need
• Have a wonderful first semester as a Mills College Graduate student!
