To address the nationwide nursing shortage, Mills College is introducing an innovative program leading to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) at Samuel Merritt College. Students who complete the two-year pre-nursing program at Mills with a 3.0 grade point average and attain a specified minimum score on the Nurse Entrance Test (NET) will be guaranteed admission into a two-year nursing theory and clinical program at Samuel Merritt College.

Transfer students may apply for admission to the nursing program. Up to one year (30 semester hours) of transfer credit may be awarded to transfer students. It is recommended that transfer students complete two of the following core courses prior to enrolling at Mills: Microbiology, Survey of Chemistry, Anatomy, Physiology. The guarantee of admission to Samuel Meritt College is offered provided all pre-nursing requirements are met, a minimum of one year of full-time coursework at Mills is taken, and two of the core sciences are taken at Mills. Additionally, an all-college GPA of 3.0 or higher is required.
