Shrim Bathey, Admission Counselor
sbathey@mills.edu
Shrim is a native New Englander who relocated to California in the Spring of 2006. She feels lucky to have discovered Mills so soon after moving. "The Mills campus has a very ‘East-Coast' feel to it—it is surrounded by trees and has a quaint feeling about it that reminded me of home."
Before moving to California, Shrim worked as a Research Assistant in the Department of Psychiatry at Yale University. Her research investigated ways to curb alcohol craving in individuals within the Substance Abuse Center at Yale. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Trinity College in Hartford, CT, and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration at Santa Clara University. At Trinity, Shrim had the wonderful opportunity to study abroad in Australia for one semester. "I love talking with Mills women who have studied abroad and discussing the new outlook on life that we have received. They are all so eager to bring their new perspectives back to the classroom and enlighten others on what they've learned." This experience inspired Shrim to become an avid traveler and open her eyes to as many cultures as she can.
In her spare time, Shrim enjoys tending to her vegetable and herb garden, playing her djembe, and recreating her mother's South Indian recipes.
Shrim is a loyal fan of the Boston Red Sox and Pittsburgh Steelers.
