Visiting the Mills Campus
During the academic year, the Office of Undergraduate Admission hosts several campus visit programs for students and their parents. Click here for more information on these special visit programs, including transfer information programs.
Prospective students who are unable to attend one of our special campus visit programs may wish to schedule a group visit or an individual day or overnight visit to campus.
We welcome many groups to campus throughout the year, from high schools to community-based educational organizations. Groups will experience a Mills student-led campus tour and an information session with an Admission Counselor.
Groups of 10–50 high school students, along with chaperones, may arrange a visit Monday to Friday throughout the year, based on space and staff availability. Holidays and other campus closure dates will not be available. Check the academic calendar here for closure dates.
In order to provide a great visit experience, we limit group visits to students of high school age. Also, please request your group visit at least two weeks in advance of your visit date.

Individual day visits may be arranged Monday through Friday throughout the year. During a day visit you may tour the campus, have your questions answered by an admission counselor in an interview, have lunch with a current student, attend classes (academic year only), meet with faculty or a coach, and/or attend an information session. Lunch is on us, whether you choose to dine with a current student or on your own!
Overnight visits are offered to high school seniors and transfer students only, and may be arranged Monday through Thursday, during the academic year. (Check the academic calendar for specific dates.) Your overnight visit may include a campus tour, interview, lunch with a current student, class visit, and/or meetings with faculty or coaches, plus staying overnight in a campus residence hall hosted by a current student. Meal tickets will be provided, so your meals will be on us during your stay! The overnight visit provides you with an opportunity to learn about life at Mills both inside and outside the classroom. Daily information sessions are held Monday through Friday at 9:15 am and 2:00 pm. A knowledgeable admission counselor will present information about Mills and ways you can make your visit to campus worthwhile. Tours of the campus are offered Monday through Friday at 10:00 am and 2:45 pm. The one-hour tour is conducted by a student tour guide. Please call the Office of Undergraduate Admission at 800.87.MILLS or 510.430.2135 to sign up for a tour, or fill out our online form.
An on-campus interview with an admission counselor is strongly recommended as an opportunity for the College to become acquainted with you and to acquaint you as thoroughly as possible with Mills. The interview is expected of any candidate whose credentials differ substantially from the majority of successful applicants.
A student living farther away is strongly encouraged to arrange for an interview with the Alumna Admission Representative (AAR) in her area; a list is available from the Office of Undergraduate Admission.

Overnight visits may be scheduled Monday through Thursday (academic year only), during which you may spend the night with a current Mills student in the residence halls. Family members or friends are responsible for their own accommodations in the Oakland area or they may make reservations for guest rooms in the Mills residence halls through the Housing Management and Dining Services (HMDS) Office, for a fee. Reservations must be made at least one week in advance. A few guest rooms in the residence halls have private baths; most are dormitory style, with twin beds and a shared bath. The residence hall guest rooms are reserved for members of the Mills community only, including guests of prospective students. All rooms include bed linens and towels. Maximum stay is one week. Unfortunately, pets are not welcome in buildings for health reasons. The HMDS Office may be contacted by calling 510.430.2127.
