Lifeguard Training Classes

Full Lifeguard Training Classes


Must be 15 years old by the last scheduled day of the class and be able to pass a swimming pre-test, consisting of:

  • Swim 300 yards using a combination of freestyle (with side breathing and a strong kick) and breaststroke with correct coordination and good power.
  • Tread water for two minutes, legs only.
  • Swim 20 yards freestyle or breaststroke, dive to a depth of 7 to 10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object and return it to the surface, swim back to the starting point supporting that object with both hands while face remains above surface, set the object on the deck, get out of the water without using stairs or ladders within a given time limit of 1:40.

Cost:  $225

Dates: Pre Course: January 21, 5:00 pm-8:00 pm

Class Meets: January 26-February 18
Tuesday/Thursday, 5:00 am-8:00 pm

Junior Lifeguard Training Classes


Must be between 11-14 years of age and be able to pass a swimming pre-test, consisting of:

  • Swim front crawl for 25 yards with regular breathing to side or front
  • Swim breaststroke for 25 yards using a pull, breathe, kick and glide sequence
  • Tread water for one minute using arms and legs
  • Show a level of comfort on the back by back floating for 30 seconds or swimming 25 yards using the back crawl or the elementary backstroke
  • Swim 10 feet underwater

Cost:  $200


July 6–July 16, 9:00 am–12:30 pm, Mon-Thurs

American Red Cross
Lifeguard Training Review Course

Get re-certified in Water Rescue skills and CPR/AED and First Aid skills. This is a 12-hour review course. 




  • Must have current Lifeguard Training certification or have held certification that has expired within the last year.
  • Must provide your own rescue mask and whistle  (available for purchase for $12).

Cost: $125, includes American Red Cross fees.

To register, print out the Lifeguard Training Review Course Registration Form and mail it in with the course fee. There is a class limit of 12 students.

Basic Water Rescue

This course four-hour course is designed to meet the water safety training required for adoptive and foster parents.


  • TBA

Requirements: There is no swimming prerequisite for this course. Students should be comfortable in chest deep water for the in-water session which focuses on basic rescue skills and assists.

Cost: $50

To register, print out a Registration Form (link is below) and mail it in with the course fee. There is a class limit of 15 students.
