Marc Weinstein came to Mills College in 2002 after spending the previous fifteen years as the Head Professional at Rolling Hills Club in Marin County. During that time, Marc developed scores of top junior tennis players, including many who went on to play at the collegiate level and who earned scholarships. In 2001, Rolling Hills Club was honored as the United States Tennis Association’s Organization of the Year.

Marc grew up playing tennis on the public courts in New York City and eventually became the director of Manhattan’s free summer tennis program, supervising six sites throughout the city.

Marc competed on the University of Massachusetts’ NCAA Division I tennis team for four years, graduating in 1986. During 1987 and 1988, Marc coached top Israeli junior tennis players at the National Tennis Center of Israel, while also competing on the Frankel Professional Satellite Circuit.

Marc has done extensive graduate work in Counseling Psychology at Sonoma State University, where he also served as Assistant Coach for the men’s tennis team from 1999-2002.

In addition to his responsibilities coaching the tennis team at Mills, Marc has founded the Mills Community Tennis Program (MCTP). MCTP provides free tennis instruction, mentoring and academic tutoring to disadvantaged youth from the Oakland Public Schools. Mills College tennis team members and other undergraduate students serve as tennis instructors and academic tutors in this program. In 2003, MCTP was awarded the USTA’s Multicultural Participation Committee’s Service award for outstanding programming to the multicultural community. MCTP also received the NADIIIAA's National Award for Community Service in 2004 and has been recognized with the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Sectional Community Service Award in each of the past three years.

Marc has also competed extensively in the sport of Ultimate Frisbee, playing on teams at the high school, college, open and master’s levels. Marc’s UMass team defeated Stanford to win the Collegiate National Championship in 1986, and he also played on a Master’s team (32 and older) that won a World Championship in 1998.
