Volleyball Coaching Staff Susan Forbes joined Mills College in 2009 as the Head Volleyball Coach. As a Southern California native, Susan has been involved with the sport, as a player or a coach, for over 15 years. Her first coaching experience was as co-head coach of the Mile High Volleyball Club 14’s team during her senior year at Rim of the World High School in Lake Arrowhead, CA. From that year on Susan continued to coach as both a head coach and assistant coach for various club programs and age divisions within California. In addition to her club volleyball coaching experience, Susan also served as a coach at various college volleyball programs’ camps including the University of the Pacific, University of San Francisco, and Cal State San Bernardino. Collegiately, Susan competed at the University of the Pacific from 2002–06 where she was a full athletic scholarship recipient, four-year letter winner, three-year starter, and three time NCAA Division I tournament participant. During her senior year Susan served as a co-captain and was voted “Most Inspirational.” Susan graduated from UOP with a degree in Sports Management in 2006, and went on to earn her master’s degree in Educational Administration and Leadership with an emphasis in Student Affairs in 2009. In addition to her coaching responsibilities as Mills, Susan also serves as a physical education instructor, the special events coordinator, and also oversees the equipment managers for each team. In her free time, Susan enjoys playing competitive volleyball, working out, being outdoors in the mountains, baking, home-making, and ceramics. She currently resides in the East Bay with her husband, Joe.
