Mills Runner Lupe Cazares Selected for Cal Pac Runner of the Month for September

Mills College junior and co-captain Guadalupe Cazares was selected as the California Pacific Conference Womenʼs Cross Country Runner of the Month for September.

The Ventura, California native had three top eleven finishes in three meets during the month of September. She finished 4th out of 18 competitors not affiliated with an NCAA Division I or II school at the Reno Twilight Invitational, hosted by University of Nevada-Reno. She also finished 6th out of 56 runners at the Beaver Invitational, hosted by Sacramento City College and 11th out of 80 runners at her home event, the Mills Invitational in Oakland.

Cazares led the team to a first place team finish in the PUC Invitational on October 3, and finished first in the race with a time of 20:49, almost a minute faster than the second place finisher. Her time was almost two minutes faster than her time last year at the PUC Invitational. The Mills cross country team won the meet for a second year in a row.

The cross country team continues their season as they head to Portland for the Warner Pacific Ivitational on October 11th.
