Cycling Cyclones

We, the fabulous riders of the Mills College Cycling Cyclones, are a club of CRAZY cyclists who are passionately committing our hearts, brains, and butts to fight the global AIDS epidemic! We will train rigorously each year in preparation for the 545-mile journey of AIDS/LifeCycle, pedaling up mountains, cruising down hills, braving crosswinds, bad drivers, and road kill in preparation for our final ride out from San Francisco to Los Angeles in June!

This will be done through Jewish and Israel-related events, such as the annual Passover Seder, participation in the festival of Light and Dark, monthly Shabbat potlucks, film, dialogues, lectures and other to-be determined events.

To form a strong bond uniting students in: a) Developing mechanisms to increase understanding, dialogue, and activism involving immigration policy and laws within the Mills community and greater community. By breaking stereotypes of the portrayal of immigrants in the Unites States, and to inspire the virtues of excellence and leadership; and b) to create a support system for students and alike who are affected by current immigration issues; to promote the welfare of its members; and to encourage their moral, intellectual, and cultural advancement.

The psychology club provides a forum in which any student can interact with others who have similar interests. The meetings are designed to fill a number of functions including providing a way for people to get to know one another, discuss local as well as global issues, discover employment opportunities, explore a variety of local mental health services and interesting topics that the field has to offer. Most importantly we are a group that is dedicated to improving the mental health of our local community by lifting spirits with simple acts.

Mouthing Off: A Queer Alliance of Mills College

To promote the visibility of Queer issues on the Mills College campus, to organize support from the outside Queer community, and to organize fundraising events for this end. We intend to be an environment that is welcoming of all people, and will address the needs of people belonging to and allies of the transgender, sex worker, lesbian, gay, bisexual, and other queer communities.

To serve the various needs of the Chicana-Latina population at Mills College, with respect to and in order to honor our community and share our culture. We foster development among the Chicanas-Latinas here on campus through active recruitment and retention of Chicanas and Latinas.

The purpose of the Muslim Students Association is to serve as a support group for Muslim Students and an outlet of awareness about Islam for non-Muslim students on campus. In doing so, MSA aims to clarify misconceptions, while introducing the just beauty of this peaceful faith to who ever is interested.
Native American Sisterhood Alliance

To increase the number, visibility and retention of Native American, American Indian, and first Nations students in the Mills College community, foster alliances with other student groups, and facilitate Bay Area Indian and Mills community interaction through Native Heritage month events and the Medicinal Healing Garden. NASA members also serve as the advisory and organizing committee for the Mills College Native Alliance Powwow.

South Asian & Middle Eastern Cultural Awareness Organization

Student Advocate

To provide students with a safe place to voice their concerns regarding Mills College and act as a middle ground between Mills College and the student body. If students are facing challenges and need guidance to resources Student Advocate can direct them to the proper people to talk to such as ASMC members, Division of Student Life, or any other resources that may be applicable to fulfilling and meeting their needs. Student Advocate supports student needs and is not limited to student concerns but will also help with sponsoring and supporting student's creative ideas that they want to share with the student body.
Unlearning White Supremacy

We are a student organization that works to deconstruct and challenge white privilege and racism. We are a collective open to all students who are interested in joining in the discussion on how to fight white supremacy and are interested in building a supportive environment for students of all races and ethnicities to dialogue and take action.

To design and execute a unique and creative collection of submitted work which will be decided upon by staff members. To uphold the fine reputation which has been yearly re-established by previous publications of the walrus and its staff members. The Womanist

To give agency and celebrate the voices, struggles and many identities, of the women of color on the Mills college campus, and in the greater Bay Area. The Womanist is an annual journal, which features poetry, prose, photography, and art.
Trans/Ally Student Group

Formed to address a need for an organized presence of the trans/gender queer/gender variant community, including allies, on campus and to represent the needs and expressions of our members, however they may identify. Support and advocate for one another and ourselves, thus acting as agents of change in the Mills community and the larger world.
Women's Open-Minded Empowerment Network

W.O.M.E.N. strives to bring Mills women together in a respectful, supportive, and confidential environment to center and validate women's voices and perspectives, highlighting their legitimacy in a context in which they are often devalued and challenging the male hegemony of the academic canon. Finding commonalities in our individual experiences will form the basis upon which we can build a larger critical analysis of the ways in which society systemically marginalizes women. As we develop our feminist awareness, surrounded by other women in a setting where we have voice and validation, we will become empowered to create positive change in the world.
