Roundtable Fellows Program

The Roundtable Fellows Program provides sophomores, juniors, and first-year graduate students with an opportunity to conduct research, participate in public forums, and create programs and events to advance women’s leadership. Roundtable Fellows are engaged in projects ranging from writing social commentaries for public radio to attending local, statewide, national, and global conferences. During their two years as Fellows, they are mentored by influential policy makers, artists, social activists, CEOs, and scholars from our more than 20,000 alumnae. Roundtable Fellows hold prestigious internships and are recipients of numerous awards and scholarships.

A cohort of 12 Fellows is selected through an Roundtable Fellow Program application process (21k, pdf) that helps identify the candidate’s ability to chart a dynamic path in leadership, while engaged in social justice actions. Candidates must have a 3.0 GPA or above to be considered. Selected Fellows receive an annual stipend of $1,000.00 to support their work.

Fellows develop portfolios as one way of documenting their experiences. Upon completion of the two-year program, students receive a certificate and enjoy a special reception in their honor. Letters of recommendation are added to their portfolio detailing their performance and contributions to WLI.

For 2007–08, Roundtable Fellows will:

• Launch the Mills 21st-Century Constitution Initiative
• Co-sponsor the Second Annual AAMC Literary Salon
• Conduct a forum detailing the focus and scope of their research, internships, and special projects
• Partner with the Institute for Civic Leadership and the Nursing Leadership Program to host a series of speakers doing innovative work in social justice and leadership
• Attend national and global leadership and social justice conferences
• Attend an annual retreat
• Mount an exhibit for Women’s History Month
• Hold the Third Annual Intergenerational Forum

WLI is an affiliated program of the Center for Civic Engagement and Women’s Leadership.
