New Challenges

A Mills education must meet the challenges of a new century.

Over the next five years, Mills will evolve to keep pace with the way the Mills graduate will live and work in the 21st century. Multiple careers, technological change, and leadership are part of the store. So, too, are lifelong skills and an increasingly diverse society and workplace. These challenges include the need to:

  • Increase financial aid support.
  • Broaden curricular offerings.
  • Modernize and renovate teaching and learning facilities.
"We are building on strength to create a dynamic model of education for the 21st century. Mills has a long tradition of combining a strong liberal arts curriculum for women with professional opportunities on the graduate level. We are not shy about our commitment to women. We will make the liberal arts experience even better by modeling what women need to advance in society. On the graduate level, we will identify additional professional opportunities for women because women require them, and because we must grow to remain financially stable."
Janet Holmgren
Mills College President
