Name Your Concert Hall Seat

Since 1928, the Jeannik Méquet Littlefield Concert Hall in the Mills College Music Building has hosted performances that have shaped the course of music in our time. Upon the 80th anniversary of the opening of this architecturally significant building, Mills completed an extensive renovation project to restore the concert hall to its acoustic and visual splendor and make improvements throughout the building. Now named in honor of a noted Mills alumna (who earned a master’s degree in 1942) and patroness of the arts, the Jeannik Méquet Littlefield Concert Hall is once again advancing the tradition of hosting cutting-edge music performances that cross barriers of genre and culture.

The Seats
Like the rest of the Littlefield Concert Hall, the seating in place today combines new and old elements. Throughout the hall, seating has been reconfigured to provide more legroom. Each seat is all new and provides extraordinary comfort. The wooden armrests, carved wooden endplates, and metal feet at the ends of each row, however, were part of the hall’s original furnishing, ensuring that the seats complement the architectural character of the building.

Name Your Seat
You can become a permanent part of the Mills music tradition. Make a donation to name one of the seats in the hall today and, for decades to come, Mills students, faculty, and visitors will find your name on a brass plaque affixed to the chair. Your donation will help complete the funding for the Littlefield Concert Hall restoration and support the ongoing renovation of the Music Building.

When you make a gift to name one of the Littlefield Concert Hall’s 442 fixed seats, your name—or the name of a relative, friend, or professor you choose to honor—will be engraved on permanent brass nameplate on the seat’s wooden armrest. Two donation levels are available:

• With a gift of $2,500, you may name a seat on the main level, which is closest to the stage.

• With a gift of $1,500, you may name a seat in the upper tier.

Accommodations will be made whenever possible for specific seat requests. Naming a seat does not guarantee access to that seat for future performances.
