MILLS COLLEGE BOARD CHAIR NAMED ONE OF SAN FRANCISCO’S 100 MOST INFLUENTIAL BUSINESS WOMEN 

Oakland, CA - Vivian M. Stephenson, chair of the Board of Trustees at Mills College, has been named one of San Francisco’s “100 Most Influential Business Women.”

Currently serving as chief operating officer at Williams-Sonoma Inc., she is responsible for sourcing, logistics and distribution, supply chain optimization, call centers, store operations, outlets, information technology, and training.

Prior to joining Williams-Sonoma Inc. in 2003, Stephenson worked in the information technology field as executive vice president and chief information officer for Target Corporation from 1989-2000, and in information technology leadership positions for Tenneco Gas, Rand Information Systems, and Occidental Petroleum.

She has been widely recognized for her business leadership and extensive community service.  Stephenson was the co-recipient of the 2004 Kile Ozier Award celebrating the spirit of volunteerism in the fight against HIV/AIDS, and on behalf of Target, she accepted the 1994 Computerworld-Smithsonian award for technology in business and related services.  Stephenson was also featured in Computerworld’s “Road to the Top” series in 1998 and in Hispanic Business magazine’s “Women Work Harder” article on how nine Latina executives reached the top.

She is a board member of the California State Automobile Association, the San Francisco AIDS Foundation, and Pangaea Global AIDS Foundation.
