MILLS RANKED AMONG TOP 50 U.S. COLLEGES FOR WIRELESS INTERNET ACCESS

Oakland, CA - Mills College has been ranked among the top 50 U.S. colleges and universities for outstanding campus access to a wireless network.  One of only five California colleges rated by Intel, Mills was recognized based on the percentage its campus is covered by wireless technology, the number of undergraduates, and the computer-to-student ratio. The study examined schools with more than 1,000 students. This year, 74 percent of the top 50 schools have 100 percent wireless coverage on campus compared with only 14 percent in last year’s survey. Wireless networks are transforming how increasingly tech-savvy students, faculty, and staff learn and work.

Technology is a vital component of the classroom experience at Mills. Many courses have dedicated web pages that give students access to specific research, reading, or discussion boards. Students can even listen to assigned audio clips and view images from home or the residence halls. Professors also have Webcasting equipment available for Webinars and special events.

The world's largest chipmaker, Intel is also a leading manufacturer of computer, networking, and communications products.

Mills College is a nationally renowned, independent liberal arts college offering innovative degree programs for undergraduate women, and graduate degree and certificate programs for women and men. Consistently ranked among the top 75 liberal arts colleges in the nation by U.S. News & World Report, Mills is also recognized as one of the country’s 20 most diverse colleges. The Princeton Review selected Mills as one of 11 colleges for first-time inclusion in its Best 361 Colleges - 2005. Nestled in the foothills of Oakland, California on 135 lush acres, Mills provides a dynamic liberal arts education fostering women’s leadership, social responsibility, and creativity.
