MILLS TO OPEN DOORS FOR NEW STUDENT HOUSING IN 2006 Oakland, CA - Beautiful courtyard apartments are currently under construction at Mills College to meet the needs of record numbers of enrolled students. Designed to house nearly 100 upper-class undergraduate and graduate students over 21 years of age, the apartments will open in August 2006. The new housing is located off the main campus entrance at 5000 MacArthur Blvd. “Mills’ outstanding enrollment and fundraising achievements enable us to provide these beautiful apartments for students,” said Janet L. Holmgren, Mills President. “Excellent housing is an important component of our premier liberal arts programs that support students’ academic success and personal growth.” Constructed atop one of Mills’ cherished hills, many of the fully furnished Craftsman-style apartments will offer exceptional Bay Area views through expansive windows that will also provide abundant light. Students can choose from four-, five- and six-bedroom units that include a fully equipped kitchen, a spacious living room with cable television hook-up, and an adjoining dining room. A beautifully landscaped community courtyard will feature a group barbecue, lawns, and benches with panoramic views. High-speed and wireless internet access, utilities, shared laundry facilities, and a bike room are also provided. ADA accessible apartments will be available on the first floor.
