DANCE PROFESSOR LI CHIAO-PING PRESENTS “HOME WORKS” AT JULIA MORGAN CENTER FOR THE ARTS Oakland, CA - Li Chiao-Ping, Mills College professor of dance, will present “Home Works,” an exciting program of new and recent contemporary dance works at the Julia Morgan Center for the Arts, Friday, March 30, 2007, and Saturday, March 31, 2007 at 8 pm. Contemplative and exhilarating, the concert will include a high energy solo West Coast premiere, "FoRAY," created and danced by Ms. Li to James Grant's compositions for clarinet and piano. The Julia Morgan Center is located at 2640 College Avenue, Berkeley, CA, 94704. Tickets cost $15 for general admission and $10 for students, seniors, and children 12 years old and under. Tickets are available in advance by calling CBON: 925.798.1300 or at the performance. Tammy Cheney, a former ODC dancer, will perform in a premiere work choreographed by Li. Guest artist Cynthia Adams of Fellow Travelers Performance Group will offer wry humor to the program with "The Hunt," taking the audience along a frenzied search for shelter in the Bay Area housing market. Li's latest ensemble work, "Home," will be performed by Robin Baartman, Jessica Vokoun, and Zach Zube in a West Coast premiere. The work is an imaginative free flow of ideas about land and space, traversing the disciplines of dance and theater. Li will also perform "Mendelssohn Piece," one of the newest solos created for her by June Watanabe, Bay Area-based choreographer and retired Mills professor of dance. Completing the program is “Past Forward,” danced by Li, Baartman, and Vokoun, with music composed and performed live by violist Nils Bultmann.
