Mills College ranked 75 among Forbes' best colleges Oakland, CA–August 15, 2008. A new top colleges list by Forbes ranked Mills College 75th in the country, placing it among the top two percent in the United States.
The Forbes list included only the top 15 percent (or 569) of undergraduate colleges and universities nationwide in its first annual ranking. In conjunction with the Center for College Affordability and Productivity, a Washington, DC-based think tank, Forbes focused its ranking on the students' quality of education according to evaluations of their professors and courses and how many alumnae are listed among the notable people in Who's Who in America. "Small liberal arts schools shine in our rankings, probably due to both the quality of their faculty and the personal attention they can provide. These rankings reflect, in a very real way, the quality and cost of an undergraduate education at a wide range of American colleges and universities," said the authors of the Forbes rankings. Other factors included student debt, graduation rate, and the numbers of students or faculty who have won nationally competitive awards like Fulbright grants or Guggenheim Fellowships. Nestled in the foothills of Oakland, California, Mills College is a nationally renowned, independent liberal arts college offering a dynamic progressive education that fosters leadership, social responsibility, and creativity to approximately 950 undergraduate women and 500 graduate women and men. Since 2000, applications to Mills College have more than doubled. The College ranks as one of the top colleges in the West by U.S. News & World Report and one of the Best 368 Colleges by the Princeton Review. Visit us at www.mills.edu. PRESS CONTACT: |
