Mills Ranked in the Top 50 of America’s Coolest “Green” Schools
Oakland, CA–August 22, 2011 Mills College has been named one of America's top 50 coolest schools by Sierra, the magazine of the Sierra Club, ranking 42 with a score of 62.3.
In its fifth annual survey, Sierra rated schools according to their environmental practices, green initiatives, and caliber of sustainability-oriented education. The survey considered ten categories for measuring a school's commitment to sustainability: energy supply, efficiency, food, academics, purchasing, transportation, waste management, administration, financial investments, and a catch-all called "other initiatives."
Mills has also been recognized as one of the greenest colleges in the nation by The Princeton Review based on the school’s performance as an environmentally aware and responsible institution, scoring a 98 out of a possible 99 for environmental policies and practices.
