KGO Radio Features Mills MFA Student Discussing Community Engagement through Poetry and Prose

Oakland, CA–November 29, 2012 Tessa Micaela, a candidate for the Mills MFA in creative writing, and Stephanie Young, graduate programs director for the English Department at Mills College, described how Mills is connecting social justice with poetry and prose on KGO Radio Wednesday, November 28, 2012.

Micaela and Young shared details with KGO Radio’s “Good News Oakland” reporter, Tihanna McCleese, about how Mills’ full-tuition assistantships for select MFA in creative writing candidates allow students to conduct community outreach with writing. Micaela is currently earning her Mills MFA while running creative writing sessions for incarcerated women.
