Mills Professor Featured on KCBS Radio Examining Role of Chemical Weapons in Syrian Conflict

Oakland, CA–December 04, 2012 In a live interview on KCBS Radio on Monday, December 3, Mills College Professor of Government and authority on Syria and the Middle East, Fred Lawson, provided insight into claims by the United States that Syria is ramping up its chemical weapons capability.

Lawson addressed the various multinational aspects at play, including statements from both President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton that the US will respond if Syria makes any attempt to use chemical and biological weapons in the ongoing civil war.

Lawson, who last year completed a two-year term as president of the Syrian Studies Association, is a scholar of international relations in the Middle East with specific expertise in Syrian, Egyptian, and Gulf affairs. He has written numerous articles about foreign policy and international relations in Syria and the Middle East.
