Mills College President Alecia DeCoudreaux to Deliver
Undergraduate Commencement Address at Indiana University
Oakland, CA–April 17, 2013 Mills College President Alecia DeCoudreaux will present the undergraduate commencement address at her alma mater Indiana University at Bloomington on May 4, 2013.
Having received her doctor of laws degree from Indiana University at Bloomington and her undergraduate degree from Wellesley College, DeCoudreaux’s distinguished career is a living example of how a solid academic foundation—paired with a willingness to embrace change—can point an individual toward achievements she may never have imagined.
"Alecia DeCoudreaux has had a distinguished business and legal career and has combined integrity, tenacity, and a keen intellect to bring important change through her community service and work,” said Indiana University President Michael A. McRobbie.
With a multifaceted professional background, DeCoudreaux personifies the Mills College belief that with determination and access to opportunity women can make meaningful contributions to their communities and the world. Her commitment to education and decades in corporate management help her build on the legacy of Mills as a nationally recognized model for women’s higher education.
“I am very humbled to be invited to speak at my alma mater, and I hope to convey the sense that passion, persistence, and a strong desire to give back can be the guiding principles of success,” said DeCoudreaux. “Lifelong learning and dedication to empowering others have been the tenets of my personal growth and have guided me in my role as president of Mills College.”
