American Conservatory Theater Brings Romeo and Juliet
to Mills College
Oakland, CA–February 25, 2014 The American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) will bring Will on Wheels, the theater’s touring production of Shakespeare classics, to Mills College. A.C.T.’s annual educational program has been touring inventive adaptations of Shakespeare’s classics at Bay Area schools since 2007.
On Friday, March 7, 2014, A.C.T.’s 90-minute production of Romeo and Juliet, featuring student actors from A.C.T.’s Master of Fine Arts Program, class of 2015, will bring Shakespeare’s famous tragic love story to life on the Lisser Hall stage.
This abridged version of Shakespeare’s classic, directed by Stephen Buescher, head of movement and physical theater at A.C.T.’s MFA Program, promises to be not only entertaining and educational, but will also deliver the high-quality, classical drama for which A.C.T. is so well known. A question and answer session with the director and actors will follow the performance.
Will on Wheels is part of A.C.T.’s MFA actors-in-training educational and community outreach program. Its ultimate goal is to graduate A.C.T. citizen-artists who can teach, mentor, and effect social change through the art of live performance.
