Mills Student Reporters’ Stories to Air on KALW’s Crosscurrents
Oakland, CA–May 29, 2014 Mills College students in the Intermediate Public Radio Reporting class recently had the opportunity to become investigative reporters and produce special reports on their own.
Student reporters spent 13 weeks investigating a surge of activism and academic activity at Skyline, the newest traditional high school in Oakland. Now, the fruits of their labor will be aired on NPR affiliate KALW Public Radio’s show Crosscurrents.
From efforts to institute restorative justice, to the Asperger Inclusion Program, to the Black Student Union’s recent suit over civil rights violations, this semester’s stories reflect a compelling portrait of the intense activism and academics on campus. Hear their inspiring stories when the student series airs on KALW 91.7 FM on Monday, June 2, and Tuesday, June 3, at 5:00 pm with live streaming at kalw.org.
