Mission Statement Career Services seeks to support and enhance the mission of the Division of Student Life and Mills College by assisting students and alumni with identifying and achieving lifelong career satisfaction and success. Our mission is to provide information, in both a high-touch and high-tech format, that will aid students and alumni in the successful transitions from academia to the world of work. The aim is to foster students' career development and to empower them for life-long career management through planning and job search activities that expand their knowledge of the marketplace and provide them with access to employers. By cultivating an environment of critical inquiry, reflective decision-making and professional integrity, Career Services empowers students and alumni to make informed career decisions, secure employment, and explore co-curricular, professional and educational opportunities that are consistent with their interests, skills and values. Staff Pooja Sharma Emerald Templeton Emerald has worked with a diverse range of students in the areas of academic advising, career counseling, and personal development. She enjoys creating and facilitating workshops as well as promoting student civic engagement. Emerald is passionate about helping students connect their passions to tangible careers and she is an advocate for the pursuit of higher education. She is excited about being a part of aiding in the positive transitions students will make at Mills. Neal Sardana Neal is originally from the east coast where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Villanova University. He did financial and government work before transitioning into the counseling field. Neal is currently working towards his MS in Counseling with a specialization in career counseling from SFSU. He is also a volunteer peer counselor at the Berkeley Free Clinic where he provides a safe space for individuals to discuss feelings and situations they may be facing in their life. Neal is excited to meet, learn from, and play a role in the career development of Mills’ students and alumnae. Humah Bargzie Humah is excited to meet the needs of Mills students as a career counseling intern. She is currently a graduate student at SFSU in the counseling program. She places high value on helping students as they discover their abilities and talents and how to use them in the world-of-work. Helen Pang Helen is currently pursuing a master's degree in career and college counseling at SFSU. She has professional experience in various fields and industries and is eager to assist students in actively exploring their many career options and overcoming the challenges of choosing a major or career that will fit them. She is also committed to supporting students throughout the process of achieving their unique academic and career goals, such as helping with resumes, graduate school applications, or identifying possible opportunities locally as well as internationally. No-Show Policy for Appointments Due to the high demand for career counseling appointments, we ask that if you cannot make it to your appointment or anticipate being late, simply contact our office by phone at (510) 430-2069 or contact the counselor directly within 24 hours. We will be happy to reschedule your appointment and release this time to someone else. Career Services has adopted this late and no-show policy to help serve you in the most efficient manner possible.
